Bio Brief:

 

Dale White returns to Drayson Racing as Team Manager for a third season. In 2009, White oversaw the team’s first 24 Hours of Le Mans in the LM GT2 class and then its transition into the LMP1 class with the Lola Coupé-Judd. The team concluded a three-race LMP1 “season” with one pole position and two fastest race laps as well as the Michelin ® Green X ® Challenge in the Asian Le Mans Series. In 2010, the team will race in the American Le Mans Series, at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Asian Le Mans Series and the three-race Intercontinental Cup (Petit Le Mans, Silverstone, Asian race) in the LMP1 class with the updated Lola-Judd on Michelin Tyres. White is the founder and owner of White Lightning Racing. Prior to starting White Lightning Racing in 1985, White was an engineer and program manager for Fortune 150 company, EG&G Energy Measurements. White joined Las Vegas-businessman Michael Petersen in 1989 and went on to dominate off-road competition until moving to road racing fulltime in 1999. Over that ten year span, the team scored over 50 victories- including four consecutive Baja 1000 and Baja 500 class and three overall victories- 80 podium finishes and a number of SODA, SCORE and SNORE championships. Since 1999, additional victories in Trans-Am, World Challenge, the USRRC, Grand American Rolex Series and American Le Mans Series have been added to the tally. In total, White has directed over 100 professional racing series victories, seven team championships, two 24 Hours of Le Mans victories (’03, ’04) and multiple pit crew championships. In 2005, White Lightning earned the ALMS GT2 Team Championship and IMSA Cup Championship as well as the Driver Championship taking five victories in 10 races. Race wins included the 12 Hours of Sebring and Petit Le Mans. In 2006, WLR won three races (Lime Rock, Road America and Petit Le Mans), three poles and captured a second consecutive GT2 Driver (Bergmeister) and IMSA Cup Championships. White managed a one-off return to off-road competition in January, 2007, finishing 23rd overall in their debut at the Dakar 2007. In sports car racing that year, White oversaw the transition from Porsche to Ferrari winning one GT2 class race (Salt Lake City), three pole positions and six fastest race laps in the American Le Mans Series. In 2008, White worked as a consultant to Drayson-Barwell Racing with a season-high result of seventh at Laguna Seca then transitioning to the Team Manager role for the team’s 2009 season where it started the season with the Aston Martin Vantage GT2 with drivers Paul Drayson and Jonny Cocker in a combination of events in the ALMS, Le Mans Series, 24 Hours of Le Mans and the Asian Le Mans Series.

 

Away from the Track:


White is an avid family man and outdoorsman. Away from the shop, he enjoys spending time in the outdoors, hiking, skiing, snowmobiling in the winter; horseback riding and four-wheeling in the summer with his family. White is a member of Montana Gallatin County Search and Rescue having helped in numerous mountain rescues. White lives a simple lifestyle in Bozeman, Montana with his wife Jackie allowing the couple to be closer to nature.
